Is fishing experience needed to take a trip?
Experience is not needed for this trip. Fishing skills can be quickly learned, with the help of one of our highly experienced fishing instructors.
The weather in Jackson Hole changes daily, and sometimes hourly; varying from 40 °F in the morning through to 80 °F in a single July/August day. From April to October, Wyoming weather is very unpredictable with snow and hot sunshine experienced on the same day.
Our recommendation is layers! Layers can be shed throughout the day as temperatures rise to ensure comfort in activities. Dressing for winter during your summer trip is the most sensible advice we can offer. Winter clothing such as coats, hat, gloves and fleece can be removed and carried in accordance to the weather, remaining in a cool t-shirt for the warmer temperatures. For footwear, we recommend wearing shoes that can sustain a bit of water such as sandals, hiking shoes and sneakers; we can try to prevent getting your shoes wet but you may have to step in a bit of water when getting off the boat.
What happens if it’s a rainy day?
Jackson Hole climate is dry like a desert, meaning is it very unusual to experience rain for an entire day. However, brief showers are common throughout the day, which is why we advise bringing a lightweight raincoat for when it rains. The rain does not affect the fishing experience and rarely causes the need for reservation cancellations. Although, if stormy weather is predicted, we can reschedule trips if required. It is important to note that the weather in the mountains is very unpredictable and therefore the weather forecast should be taken with a grain of salt.
Are there bathroom facilities available?
There are outhouses located in the venue where the boats are launched and landed. Although, if you are pressed with urgency during the boat trip, we will be able to locate a private spot near bushes for you as all boats have toilet paper on board as required.
How many people can the boats accommodate?
Our boats are designed to accommodate 3 people; two fishermen and one guide. Under special circumstances such as a couple with a child, a third person is permitted on the boat at an extra fee. However, for safety reasons 3 adults will need to book an extra boat. The boats can be directed near one another for groups larger than 3 to enhance the interaction and communication of the group.
How long is the trip?
The full day trip has flexible scheduling dependent on your requirements, but often lasting up to 9 hours with most time spent on the water.
The half day trip lasts approximately 4 to 5 hours, with 3 hours spent fishing.
